Fortaleza San Luis
Historic fort located in the southwest section of
Santiago de los Caballeros near the Yaque del Norte River.
The fort was the site of several battles during the
War of Restoration.

international artists. The theater has two performing halls,
Restoration Hall and Julio Alberto Hernandez Hall.
The theater is surrunded by gardens.

Don Thomas Morel Folk Art Museum
Museum founded in 1962 by poet and cultural critic Tomas Morel,
so also participate4d in operating it until he died in 1992.
Features exhibits related to everyday life in Santiago de los Caballeros
from the colonial period through 1960. Displays include a collection
of Santiaguense carnival masks. With advance notice it is
sometimes possible to arrange a mask-making class and
someimes at Carnival time dance classes are available.

Horse Drawn Carriage Rides
Riding in horse drawn carriages is a lovely
tradition in Santiago de los Caballeros.
They can usually be found near Columbus Park
on Calle Cuba, Avenida Monumental, across from
the Teatro del Cibao and the Duarte Park Street March 30.
